KFC, the country’s largest fast-food chain, announced that some of its stores would be temporarily closed due to power outages.
The franchise announced in a tweet on its official account that ongoing scheduled power outages had impacted its operations.
KFC said that while some restaurants would remain open, menu options would be limited.
As small businesses have felt the effects of power outages on their daily operations, KFC is beginning to feel the pinch as well.
Although KFC has not specified which restaurants will be affected, customers can expect to see closed doors at some locations.
The post sparked outrage on social media, with users tagging Eskom and drawing the power utility’s attention to the impact of the rolling power outages.
We are sorry, but due to the ongoing loadshedding, some of our restaurants will be temporarily closed, while others may have limited availability on some of your favourite menu items.
We apologise for the inconvenience and will be back soon. pic.twitter.com/RTkWRQLDjO
