A 53-year-old man has been arrested by the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) after he allegedly went on a rampage and destroyed his girlfriend’s property including windows and a cupboard, in the Daveyton area.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 12, at 2.30pm when the man, who was reportedly drunk, unleashed his fury on his 47-year-old girlfriend’s home. According to Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, the EMPD spokesperson, the man has been charged with malicious damage to property.

Upon receiving information about a tipsy and jealous boyfriend, the EMPD officers from the Bronberg precinct took immediate action. The officers were on their normal duties when they were alerted to the situation. The angry suspect had gone to his girlfriend’s place after hearing rumors of her infidelity. In a fit of rage, he smashed several windows and the built-in cupboard.

Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the girlfriend rushed to the police station and opened a case of malicious damage to property against the 53-year-old man. The law enforcers wasted no time and quickly traced and located the fugitive in a hideout on Wabane street. The suspect was apprehended, handcuffed, and detained at the Daveyton police station.
