Two individuals have sustained injuries in a fire incident that occurred at an ink factory located in Kempton Park, known as Siegwerk South Africa in the Spartan industrial area. The fire broke out on Monday afternoon.
According to William Ntladi, the spokesperson for Ekurhuleni emergency services, the two employees were hurt while attempting to extinguish the fire.

He stated, “Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is currently addressing a significant structural fire at a factory that deals with alcohol-based materials.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but the initial information suggests that there was a spark in the ethanol-based plant, which led to the entire structure igniting.”
Ntladi confirmed that four fire engines were present at the scene and managed to contain and extinguish the blaze.
He further added that two individuals were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Regarding the extent of the fire, Ntladi mentioned that approximately 10 tons of ethanol-based material caught fire.
He said, “The company is now undertaking rehabilitation efforts; roughly 10 tons of ethanol were consumed by the fire. Currently, rapid spill personnel are working on cleaning up the scene.”
