On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the victim’s 37-year-old husband, Ramit Anee Rudh, lured her into his sinister plan. He claimed they needed to visit an attorney to retrieve crucial documents. Oblivious to the danger that awaited her, the woman agreed to accompany him.

The couple drove to an isolated spot in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal. As they arrived, the situation took a dark turn. A man named Kyle Clayton, an accomplice in this horrifying plot opened the car door and forcibly dragged the victim out of her vehicle.

Her husband watched as Clayton and another male accomplice strangled her with a rope. The victim’s desperate pleas fell on deaf ears. Instead, her husband urged the assailants to hasten the process. The woman lost consciousness during the brutal attack.

Regaining consciousness, the victim found herself in a sugar cane plantation in Ifafa, approximately 45 kilometres from Amanzimtoti. Seated in the front seat of a silver Opel Corsa, driven by Clayton, she realized her life hung by a thread. Her husband and a third suspect, an unknown coloured male, were nowhere to be seen.

A female employer arrived on the scene, providing the victim with a cell phone to contact her family. She transported the traumatized woman to her residence. The victim’s family anxiously awaited her return, ready to provide support.

Back home, the woman discovered that R34,000 in cash had vanished from her bank account. Scrutinizing her bank statement, she noticed a suspicious transaction: R300 transferred via E-Wallet during her captivity in Ifafa. It appeared her own money had been used to pay the suspects to kill her.

As if her ordeal wasn’t enough, the victim received ominous voice notes and calls from unfamiliar numbers. Anonymous individuals warned her that pursuing the matter would cost her life.

A criminal case was registered at the Amanzimtoti SAPS. The Investigating Officer revealed that the suspects remained elusive, evading the police. Urgent efforts are underway to apprehend the trio.
