Free State Game Farm Worker Fatally Attacked By Lion

According to police spokesperson Lorraine Earle, the victim and his supervisor had just finished putting up a gate at one of the lion enclosures.

A tragic incident occurred on Sunday at a game farm in Glen, located outside Bloemfontein, where a 43-year-old man lost his life after being attacked by a lioness.

The man, an employee at the game farm, was busy fixing the fence and installing a gate when the unfortunate event took place.

According to police spokesperson Lorraine Earle, the victim and his supervisor had just finished putting up a gate at one of the lion enclosures.

It is alleged that the victim left his room and went straight to the enclosure, unaware of the imminent danger. Despite his supervisor’s urgent warnings to get out of the enclosure, it was too late, and the lioness attacked him.

The victim sustained multiple bite marks on his neck and body, leading to his untimely death. The lioness involved in the attack was subsequently euthanised by the SPCA.

Glen police were called to the scene, and an inquest was opened for further investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
