A four-year-old girl from Limpopo lost her life after choking on a marula fruit. The incident occurred while Phologo Machaba and other children in the neighbourhood were playing.

Unfortunately, Phologo accidentally swallowed the marula fruit, which has a hard pit inside that can pose a choking hazard, especially for young children. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the doctors were unable to save her life.

The Limpopo police have initiated an inquest into this tragic incident. Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the police spokesperson, expressed their regret over the incident and emphasized the importance of child safety.

Limpopo police commissioner Major-General Jan Scheerpers urged parents and guardians to exercise caution and vigilance when it comes to the safety of their children. He emphasized the need to never leave young children unattended, particularly when consuming fruits like marula that can present a potential choking hazard.
