Thabo Bester and Nandipha Magudumana, infamously known as the “Facebook rapist” and “Dr Nandipha,” have captivated South Africa with their audacious prison break, illicit business ventures, and daring escape from the country.
Since their capture in Tanzania in 2023, they have become regular faces in courtrooms, facing the consequences of their actions.

In September of last year, the couple appeared in court together, and Dr Nandipha couldn’t seem to take her eyes off her dangerous lover. It was a twisted display of affection that left many bewildered. However, this year, the courtroom dynamic has drastically changed.
During their recent court appearance, the pair seemed to actively avoid eye contact and refrained from speaking to each other. The once-smitten duo now appeared strangely cold and distant. Social media users were quick to notice this shift in their behaviour.
Dr Nandipha, a former Wits University graduate and successful doctor, seemed to have it all – youth, success, and beauty. However, what many didn’t expect was her secret relationship with a convicted rapist and murderer, Thabo Bester.
The unravelling of their story began when a vigilant shopper spotted them shopping together at a Sandton Woolworths, despite Bester being supposed to be behind bars.
Since their capture, the couple has been shocking South Africa with their courtroom attire and behaviour. Last year, their court reunion was filled with smitten glances and affectionate gestures. However, this year, the lovey-dovey atmosphere has dissipated.
Dr Nandipha, with a fresh face of makeup and a new hairdo, refused to acknowledge Bester’s presence. Social media users couldn’t help but comment on the sudden coldness between the two. “As for passing Bester as if she doesn’t know him,” one person remarked, while another noted, “No more lovey dovey.”
