A fire on Sunday evening entirely destroyed City Power’s transformer substation in Brixton.
Although the source of the fire is still unknown, the Johannesburg power entity has said that everything would need to be replaced.
Teams were sent to the scene to investigate the source of the fire and the extent of the damage.

Meanwhile, Johannesburg Water said the fire will disrupt pumping from the Brixton reservoir to the Brixton tower and zones.
According to the water entity, a pumping unit is being organised for the Helen Joseph Hospital.
This comes as Johannesburg Water continues to monitor reservoirs and towers in the aftermath of last week’s huge power outage, which left thousands of homes without water.
Although water was pumped at full capacity again on Thursday evening, different areas of the system remain dry as the system struggles to fill up and keep up with demand.
