A 43-year-old Chinese national, Lu Xiao, was abducted outside his workplace in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday. Uitenhage detectives are now seeking the community’s assistance in locating him.
Lu Xiao had just left his workplace at the Uitenhage Mall at approximately 5:40 pm when he stopped his white VW Crafter minibus to close the gate.
It was at this moment that two unidentified men approached him and forcibly took him into a white Isuzu double cab bakkie. Another suspect drove off in Lu Xiao’s vehicle. The motive behind the kidnapping remains unclear.
Uitenhage police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu, stated that the police are treating this as a case of kidnapping. They are urging anyone with information regarding Lu Xiao’s whereabouts to come forward.
