This incident marks the second cash-in-transit heist in Durban this week. Just a few days earlier, on Tuesday, another heist took place near Folweni, resulting in the death of one security guard and injuries to two others.

There has been another attempted cash-in-transit heist in Durban after an armoured cash vehicle was bombed and set alight on the N2 between KwaMashu and Queen Nandi Drive in Durban on Thursday night. The incident occurred at around 7:20 pm, and ALS Paramedics were immediately alerted and dispatched to the scene.

Upon arriving at the scene, paramedics found the area cordoned off by the SA Police Service. The cash-in-transit vehicle was engulfed in flames, but fortunately, the guards had managed to escape with only minor injuries. They refused further treatment from the paramedics.

This incident marks the second cash-in-transit heist in Durban this week. Just a few days earlier, on Tuesday, another heist took place near Folweni, resulting in the death of one security guard and injuries to two others.

Emergency services responded to the scene on the M35 after 9am on Tuesday. The armoured van was found lying on its side at the entrance to a private residence south of Durban. Paramedics quickly assessed the situation and discovered that one guard had tragically lost his life.

Another guard sustained critical gunshot wounds and was stabilized on the scene before being airlifted to a Level 1 trauma unit by the Netcare911 Aeromedical Helicopter. The third guard sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Both incidents have prompted the closure of major roads in Durban to allow the police to conduct thorough investigations. The N2 South Bound was closed following the attempted heist on Thursday night, while the M35 was closed in both directions after the heist on Tuesday.
