Workers at a police station in Mandeni got the fright of their lives after discovering a 3.3-metre crocodile lounging outside the station on Wednesday night. The incident, which took place last night, has been described as one of the most unique situations the police station has ever encountered.

The local SAPS station near Mandeni called for assistance at around 10 pm after spotting the crocodile behind the station. A team from IPSS Search and Rescue responded to the call and found a large adult crocodile.

Due to the unusual circumstances, the decision was made to seek assistance from Ashton Musgrave, a local expert in safely capturing crocodiles. With his expertise, the crocodile was safely captured and loaded onto a waiting vehicle. The massive reptile measured in at an impressive 3.3 metres.

After discussions with the relevant authorities, it was decided that the crocodile would be relocated to the Hluhluwe area the following morning. It is believed that the crocodile had made its way from the nearby Tugela River.

This incident is not the first of its kind in the area. In an unrelated incident in April of this year, three men were arrested for being in possession of a Nile crocodile worth R25,000.
