Moholo has now released a gospel song wherein he says the Bishop Barnabas Lekganyane-driven church must pardon him, and furthermore said he was a genuine ZCC member. A portion of the tune’s verses, which he waxed in Sepedi, state: “Phuthego lentshwarele, Bushiri onropile. Ke mosione 99 [The church ought to excuse me in light of the fact that Bushiri has robbed me. I’m a genuine Zion Christian Church member].”

Bushiri’s attorney, Ntsako Baloyi, affirmed that Moholo is no longer a member of the ECG, saying the congregation had gone separate ways with him since it couldn’t bear the cost of the Ke lahlile Botsotsi hitmaker’s requests. “Some of his demands were just too difficult to meet. He created the impression that he didn’t come to church for salvation [but] for other things,” Baloyi said.

Moholo said: “I have no comment. I’m just disappointed that things turned out this way.”

A senior ECG member, who would not like to be named on the grounds that he was not permitted to address the media, additionally affirmed Moholo has left the congregation.

He claimed Moholo united with ECG subsequent to meeting Bushiri at his hotel in Rustenburg, North West.

During the meeting, Moholo supposedly cried of poverty and asked Bushiri to assist him with funds for his album.

“Bushiri helped him with funds from his pocket but stopped later at the advice of other church members. Our prophet is a generous man, and there was no doubt that he would have continued to help him. The problem was that this was going to create a message that Solly was bigger than other church members because of his demands,” said the member.

The member said it was only when the church heard he had released a song about going back to ZCC that they learned he had left. “Had it not been for that song, we would not have even noticed that he had left.”
