Missing Gauteng Mother And Daughter Found Murdered After Farm Attack

Two Gauteng women, Hester Flemming, 52, and her mother Cecilia Johanna Flemming, 82, have been found murdered in an opencast mine in Eikenhof.

The grim discovery was made on Monday, approximately 20  minutes from Sandton, following a harrowing search that began after the two were reported missing after a devastating farm attack.

Details of the Attack

According to Mike Bolhuis from Specialized Security Services (SSS), the attack on the Flemmings is believed to have occurred between 10 PM on Friday, October 25, 2024, and the early hours of Saturday.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspects managed to enter the property by cutting through the fence and breaking the security gate. Once inside, they ransacked the house and stole two vehicles, which has heightened the urgency of the investigation that followed.

Ongoing Investigation and Community Response

Since the moment the women were reported missing, law enforcement officials have pursued numerous leads and dedicated countless hours to the case. Tragically, it was confirmed late Monday afternoon that the women were found deceased.

Bolhuis expressed deep sorrow, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this incredibly difficult time. Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo noted that the Kliprivier police are actively investigating a case consisting of house robbery, kidnapping, and vehicle theft.

A suspect was apprehended at an informal settlement, and the search continues for the remaining individuals involved.
