Lwandle Mass Shooting Leaves 10 Dead And 11 Injured As Gunmen Flee

Ten people have been killed and 11 others injured after gunmen opened fire on party-goers in Lwandle, near Strand, shortly before 02:00 on Sunday.

Five victims died at the scene, while another five later succumbed to their injuries in hospital. Police have opened murder and attempted murder cases, with no arrests made.

Lwandle Mass Shooting Under Investigation

Western Cape police said detectives are searching for the perpetrators. The motive remains unknown.

“Detectives are hard at work in search of the perpetrators of the shooting incident, with no arrests effected yet,” police said.

The victims’ identities will be released once their next of kin have been informed.

Lwandle Shooting Follows Carletonville Attack

The shooting happened hours after 17 people were killed at a tavern outside Carletonville in Gauteng. At least eight gunmen reportedly opened fire using AK-47 rifles and pistols.

Fifteen people were also injured in the Carletonville shooting, with investigations into both incidents continuing.
