South African star Omuhle Gela recently shared her beauty journey on Instagram. The actress opened up about undergoing lip neutralization, a cosmetic treatment aimed at lightening the natural pigmentation of the lips for a more even tone.
This procedure has been gaining traction among individuals seeking a balanced lip colour, and Omuhle’s decision to document it has sparked quite a conversation.

For those unfamiliar, lip neutralization is a cosmetic procedure that targets uneven pigmentation in the lips.
The treatment lightens the lip colour, often resulting in a softer, more uniform shade. Omuhle explained the process to her followers, noting, “The aim of this process is specifically formulated to neutralize the lip colour and create a brighter and even tone.
“(My lower lip’s original colour was perfect, so I wanted the upper lip to match the lower lip and I wanted to create a gloss-and-go effect without having to use lipstick to even the lips).” According to her, the initial reddish coral tone will heal into a natural pink or red over an 8-10 week period.
