KZN Police Thwart Assassination Plot, Three Taxi Hitmen Killed In Shoot-out

In a significant breakthrough, KwaZulu-Natal police have successfully apprehended and neutralized three men who were suspected of being involved in a series of taxi-related killings in the province.

Acting on intelligence information, the provincial police mobilized their resources and intercepted the suspects in Eshowe, a town located on the KZN north coast.

According to Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the provincial police spokesperson, the suspects were believed to be armed and on their way to carry out an assassination. When the police officers attempted to stop their vehicle near King Dinizulu, the suspects attempted to flee, resulting in a high-speed chase.

Realizing that they were being pursued, the suspects opened fire on the police officers, who responded with equal force. During the ensuing shootout, all three suspects were fatally wounded, while one police officer sustained injuries.

The police recovered two firearms, one of which had its serial number filed off, along with a significant amount of ammunition.

Further investigation revealed that two of the suspects had been involved in multiple cases of taxi-related murder and attempted murder within the King Cetshwayo district. Additionally, a search of the suspects’ vehicle led to the discovery of a hand grenade and additional rifle ammunition.
