The family of Busiswa Nxumalo was present in court on Tuesday, sitting directly behind the accused.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Xulu allegedly contributed only R500 to the family’s travel expenses for the funeral. The court proceedings were postponed after the defence lawyer fell ill, adding to the family’s long wait for justice.

Adding another layer to the tragedy, it was revealed that Xulu had taken out three life insurance policies on Busiswa, totalling R6 million. The family was unaware of these policies until after the murder, further deepening their mistrust and sorrow.
