While the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal have been experiencing extreme weather conditions, Gauteng has also not been immune to the effects.

Once again, a motorist found themselves in deep trouble after attempting to drive through a flooded area. Fortunately, this incident did not result in any fatalities, thanks to the swift response of emergency services.

On Tuesday morning, heavy rains caused a woman to become trapped in her Renault Kiger on a flooded road in Centurion. The vehicle had stalled after being engulfed by water that was more than 40cm deep. Emergency services, including specially trained water rescue personnel, were called to the scene at the corner of End and Rabie Streets in Centurion to assist.

Tshwane Mayor, Cilliers Brink, expressed his gratitude to Tshwane EMS for their quick response in rescuing the trapped resident. He also took the opportunity to urge all drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution during extreme weather events.

Brink shared a video of the incident on Twitter, which showed an emergency services respondent climbing onto the roof of the vehicle while his colleagues passed a rope to him in order to extract the driver.
