The State has recently added two additional charges against Xolani Khumalo, the former Sizok’thola presenter who is already facing a murder charge.
Khumalo now also faces charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances and malicious damage to property.

These charges stem from an alleged incident that occurred in July, where Khumalo and his TV crew allegedly beat Robert Varrie to death at his Katlehong home during the filming of an unaired episode of the show.
Xolani Khumalo made a brief appearance at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court in Katlehong on Tuesday, with the family of the late Varrie seated directly behind him in the courtroom.
The Varrie family members were wearing t-shirts with the words: ‘No one is above the law’.
During the court proceedings, State prosecutor Pheelo Vilakazi informed the court that the National Director of Public Prosecutions, Shamila Batohi, had decided that Khumalo’s case should be tried at a regional court.
“Take note that your office, in consultation with the witnesses, still has the discretion to add any further charges as it deems fit,” Vilakazi told the court.
The matter has been postponed until 22 February to allow for further investigation.
