Reality TV star, Nonkanyiso “LaConco” Conco, recently opened up about her relationship with former president Jacob Zuma, shedding light on the challenges she faced as a young woman involved with a polygamous man.
In an interview on Ukhozi FM, LaConco shared that she had known Zuma for 13 years and had no guidance or advice on how to navigate such a unique relationship.

LaConco noticed a change in Zuma’s behaviour whenever she was present at the homestead, leading her to take on a more significant role in his life. She revealed that they communicated frequently through FaceTime when Zuma had other commitments, such as attending rallies.
Prior to disclosing their relationship to her family, LaConco expressed her desire to know the man behind the public persona of Zuma. She wanted to build a connection beyond the political figure surrounded by blue lights. For two years, they kept their relationship private, creating a bubble of their own.
“The first thing I told him before telling my sister, father mother, or anyone else that there is someone who wants to start a polygamous relationship with me was that I wanted to know the man behind the blue lights. He then took me on that journey.
“I kept our relationship to myself, I didn’t tell anyone for about two years, I kept it to myself. We were in a relationship for about two years and I did not tell anyone. We built a bubble for ourselves, our own space,” she said.

LaConco gained attention in 2018 when she became engaged to Zuma and later had a son with him. However, reports soon emerged of their relationship ending. During her time on Real Housewives of Durban, LaConco shared shocking details about the aftermath of their breakup.
Despite the challenges she faced, LaConco remained steadfast in her love for Zuma. She expressed her disappointment in the public nature of their relationship, emphasizing that it was never her intention to make it a spectacle.
