The Amapiano music scene is no stranger to drama, but the latest headlines have taken an unexpected turn. Tumelo Manyoni, better known by his stage name Mr JazziQ, finds himself at the centre of a storm after YFM producer Ngcebo Mcobothi accused him of sexual harassment.
Ngcebo Mcobothi, a producer on YFM’s drive time show, took to Twitter to share her harrowing experience. She began her narration without explicitly naming the DJ, but the internet sleuths quickly connected the dots.
According to her deleted tweet, Mr JazziQ allegedly grabbed her waist and attempted an unwelcome kiss while they were in a lift. Her words echoed the frustration and anger felt by many women who have faced similar situations.

“This guy literally grabbed me by the waist trying to kiss me ngenkani the way I had to push him away from me, while we were in a lift!” she tweeted.
In a carefully crafted statement, Mr JazziQ denied any wrongdoing. He emphasized the need for evidence to counter the damaging allegations. The socio-economic climate in South Africa, particularly concerning gender-based violence (GBV), has heightened the importance of addressing such claims with care. Mr. JazziQ promptly requested CCTV footage from YFM to prove his innocence.
However, the plot thickened when YFM clarified that Ngcebo Mcobothi is an independent freelancer, not a direct employee.
The station distanced itself from her claims, leaving Mr. JazziQ with limited options. The lift in question, unfortunately, lacks cameras, making it impossible to capture what transpired inside.
To shed light on the situation, Mr JazziQ’s videographer released a video. It shows Ms. Mcobothi entering the building and the lift alongside Mr JazziQ, his team, and another famous artist.
Crucially, they were never alone in the lift—several people accompanied them. Mr. JazziQ entered last, positioning him closest to the elevator doors. At least five others stood between him and Ms. Mcobothi.
