In a shocking turn of events, Tempo, an upmarket restaurant in Johannesburg, experienced a shooting incident at its Sunninghill establishment in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident left at least three people injured, including two staff members and the alleged instigator of the shooting.
According to reports, the individual believed to be responsible for the shooting is Sphamandla Mabonga, a businessman and the ex-boyfriend of former Real Housewives of Durban star, Londie London.
Mabonga was admitted to Mediclinic in Morningside before being transferred to another hospital for treatment. It is reported that he sustained a gunshot wound to his ribs.
Videos shared on social media captured the chaos that ensued during the incident. Patrons can be seen enjoying themselves on the dance floor before the sound of gunshots disrupts the atmosphere. Panic quickly sets in as people scramble for cover, ducking under tables to shield themselves from harm.
Tempo issued a statement apologising to its patrons who witnessed the unfortunate incident. The restaurant emphasised the importance of providing an accurate account of the situation and reassuring their valued customers and dedicated staff.
According to their statement, an individual attempted to enter the establishment with firearms but was denied entry by the strict security team. This led to a verbal dispute that escalated into the unfortunate shooting.
Fortunately, the incident unfolded outside the premises, and none of the patrons inside the restaurant were harmed. Tempo expressed heartfelt and sincere apologies to the victims affected by the incident and pledged their full support during their recovery.
