Police Applied To Have Kelly Khumalo Arrested For Alleged Role In Meyiwa Murder, Court Told

However, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) ultimately decided to indict only the five men currently standing trial.

In a shocking turn of events, the High Court in Pretoria heard how police applied for the arrest of singer Kelly Khumalo in connection with the murder of her lover, football star Senzo Meyiwa.

The court was presented with groundbreaking details, revealing that two men accused of killing Meyiwa claimed that Khumalo had ordered the hit on the footballer.

Meyiwa was tragically killed at Khumalo’s mother’s home in October 2014, initially believed to be a robbery gone wrong. However, as the trial progresses, it has become evident that there may be more to the story.

Despite the allegations against her, Khumalo has not been brought to trial alongside the accused. Brigadier Bongani Gininda revealed that police had made efforts to have her arrested, including an application for a J50 warrant of arrest.

However, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) ultimately decided to indict only the five men currently standing trial.

So, why isn’t Kelly Khumalo in the dock? Well, it turns out that Section 219 of the Criminal Procedure Act states that no confession made by any person can be admissible as evidence against another. In other words, the accusations made by the accused against Khumalo may not hold up in court.

While the police may have believed as early as 2020 that Khumalo ordered the hit on Meyiwa, it remains to be seen whether they will continue to pursue her and bring her to trial. The legal complexities surrounding her involvement make this a case that is far from straightforward.

As the trial unfolds, the public will be eagerly awaiting answers. Will justice be served, or will the truth remain elusive? Only time will tell.
