Pearl Modiadie, the renowned talk show host of former SABC 1’s Zaziwa, is celebrating a remarkable milestone in her career.
With 18 years in the TV and radio industry, Pearl has come a long way from her days as an extra on various shows to becoming a household name and South Africa’s ‘it’ girl.
Born in the Gauteng township of Tembisa, Pearl’s journey to success began after completing her matriculation in 2005.
She then pursued a diploma in media studies and journalism at Rosebank College. In 2007, she made her debut as a presenter on E-TV’s youth program, Craz-e, which marked the start of her rise to stardom.

At the age of 21, Pearl ventured into radio as a DJ on Gauteng’s youth radio station, YFM. Her talent and charisma quickly gained her a devoted following.
Three years later, she became the host of “The Jumpstart,” the weekend breakfast show, before joining Metro FM as the co-host of their lunch show alongside Thomas Msengana.
While her success in radio continued to soar, Pearl also made her mark as an actress, landing a role in the popular TV series, “Scandal!”.
This led to new opportunities, and she went on to present and produce the hit music show, Zaziwa. Additionally, Pearl became a regular on Expresso, SABC3’s morning show.
Reflecting on her journey, Pearl took to social media, writing, “18 years in the game.”
