Thuso Motaung, a renowned radio veteran, has recently found himself on the wrong side of the industry. Reports are circulating that he has been fired from his position at Lesedi FM, a shocking turn of events for one of the country’s best.
The reason behind his dismissal can be traced back to a significant controversy in 2023. During a virtual meeting between Lesedi FM staff and management, Motaung made explosive accusations against Thabo Kofa, an award-winning SABC sportscaster. He claimed that Kofa was plotting to harm him, his wife, and their children.

Motaung went into detail, alleging that Kofa, a colleague of over 30 years, orchestrated threats against his family due to work-related disputes. Unfortunately for Motaung, this meeting ultimately led to his dismissal from the broadcaster.
Adding to the drama, Motaung’s wife, Mamontha Motaung, has also reportedly been dismissed from her position as the head of the SABC Free State and Northern Cape region. She was given the option to either resign or relocate to head the SABC’s Northwest operations.

In 2006, they were fired amidst allegations of defrauding the broadcaster of R34 million in airtime sales between 2004 and 2006.
