While Covid-19 is keeping everyone on Lockdown, hitmaker DJ Maphorisa doesn’t plan on just folding his arms and relaxing like everybody else, but rather he plans to use this time to make more music.
The DJ told Drum magazine that he wished musicians had listened to him when he said that every artist should make sure that they equip themselves with knowledge about the music industry as a business.
He further explained that doing so will shift their focus from being Heavily dependent on gigs for money, and truly speaking most artists think that’s the only way of surviving as an artist.
”Content is how people will make money during these times, but it all boils down to what I said about understanding the business of music. Performances are not the only form of income for us and we should explore as much as possible,” he said.
This doesn’t mean that the DJ hasn’t been affected by the outbreak of the pandemic, just like every other artist in the world he had to cancel a lot of gigs including his much-anticipated Scorpion Kings Live Concert at Sun Arena to August 2020.
”No coronavirus formed against us shall prosper my good people we live on the 9th of August, only 2k tickets left you don’t want to miss out” He said on Twitter.
The event was set to take place in April but the DJ said he’s not too worried because in the meantime he’ll make sure that he’ll be entertaining his fans with a series of live streams on social media.
