Rapper Cassper Nyovest has found himself in hot water after releasing a tribute song dedicated to his late archrival, AKA. While Cassper’s fans rejoiced over the release of his new album, Solomon, on Friday, 15 September, AKA’s fans were less than impressed with the tribute song titled Candlelight.
One fan expressed their scepticism, saying, “That man hated Kiernan, let’s not act like he loved him. A lot happened, and now that a song has been dedicated to Kiernan, we should act like he really cared about Forbes… nah man.”

Another fan questioned Cassper’s sincerity, pointing out that he had never made a tribute song for his friends Riky Rick and DJ Sumbody, or even for HHP, who played a significant role in his career.
They wrote, “Cassper never made a tribute song for Riky Rick, DJ Sumbody, who were his friends. Let alone HHP, who put him on. But he has the nerve to do one for Kiernan, his ‘enemy’?! Cum’on!! This guy is fake as hell. Yes, Kiernan made your career, but he’s no more. Stand on your own!”
Another fan went as far as calling Cassper shameless and evil, accusing him of doing anything for clout, money, and relevance. The Fela In Versace hitmaker, whose real name is Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, was tragically murdered in Durban in February earlier this year.

In honour of his rival, Cassper penned the song Candlelight, where he reflects on his interactions with AKA and expresses his sorrow at the rapper’s untimely demise. “This time is for the legacy. I don’t do it just to do it, this is therapy.

“And if this sh*t don’t exist then we develop it. And when I heard it I was just as hurt as the Megacy, uh. Man, our battle was the highlight. I was confused when you came and gave me high fives. A very important feature in my life. And you still shining, yeah, we see you in the starlights, yeah,” raps Cassper.
Cassper also opens up about visiting the Forbes family to convey his condolences after AKA’s passing. He even jokes that AKA’s father, Tony Forbes, may just be cooler than the late rapper himself.
“The other day I went to see your family, and I was scared cause I thought that they’d be mad at me. But they embraced me, your momma is a lady, and your father might be cooler than you, maybe.”
