The Mandela family is once again making headlines as they prepare to face off in court over the burial of Zoleka Mandela, the granddaughter of Nelson Mandela. Zoleka tragically lost her battle with cancer at the age of 43 in September.
However, her final resting place has become a point of contention among family members.

According to a report in City Press, some relatives are pushing for Zoleka to be exhumed and reburied next to her grandmother, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
Currently, Zoleka’s burial plot is located at Fourways Memorial Park, but she was not laid to rest there due to a court order obtained by her aunt, Zenani Mandela.
The family members who are unhappy with this arrangement believe that Zoleka’s spirit will not find peace until she is buried next to her grandmother and daughter.
Zondwa Mandela, Zoleka’s brother, is leading the legal battle to exhume her body and will soon file papers at the Johannesburg High Court.
In addition to the burial dispute, Zoleka’s funeral was also marred by controversy. Prior to her passing, she had written a list of people she did not want at her funeral, which was later shared on social media.
The list included the names of prominent family members, causing further tension within the family.

Mandla Mandela, one of the individuals named on the list, denied the allegations of abuse made against him. He expressed shock at being included and called for respect and dignity to be restored within the family.
