Laconco Opens Up About Her Rollercoaster Journey On ‘Real Housewives of Durban’

Reality star Nonkanyiso “Laconco” Conco, known for her stint on ‘Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip,’ has never been this candid about her life.

Before the release of the spin-off series, she took to Instagram to share her experiences on ‘Real Housewives of Durban’ and her previous relationship with ex-fiancée Jacob Zuma.

According to Laconco, the filming period was a tumultuous time, filled with confusion about her marriage. She had been seeing Zuma since 2012, got engaged in 2016, and even had lobola negotiations. The first season of ‘Real Housewives of Durban’ premiered in January 2021, marking the start of a new chapter for her.

In addition to her relationship struggles, Laconco also had to juggle motherhood. She welcomed her son, Shakaumuzi, with Jacob Zuma in 2018.

She described this period as incredibly challenging, stating, “Real Housewives of Durban! Now I want you to imagine this, you are in a marriage that you yourself are confused about.

“You have a son to take care of, you are broke, you have media, and people just following to see your life, and this opportunity comes.” It was a whirlwind of emotions and responsibilities that Laconco had to manage simultaneously.

During the filming of ‘Real Housewives of Durban,’ Laconco felt provoked by some cast members and criticized by the public. She revealed that she initially refused to be part of the show because of her emotional state.

“I refused to be part of this show because I knew my state of emotions. At the end, I was there, and some cast members provoked me to speak what they wanted to hear. This country was harsh on me,” she said.

She also addressed rumours about signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to not speak about her past, clarifying that she was simply not ready to share her story.

“Some said I signed an NDA to not speak about the former or I’m living a lie. Let me clear this today, the only truth is that I was going through emotions and wasn’t ready to speak because I believe speaking while bleeding is dangerous,” she added. Despite the challenges, Laconco’s openness and resilience continue to inspire many.
