Babes Wodumo has not taken a break since December 2022, when her husband, Mampintsha, died, followed by the death of her mother-in-law, Zuma Gumede whom she buried two weeks after burying her husband.

The Gqom queen is said to have been handling the situation well, but the news of her uncle’s death has devastated her.

Nondumiso Simelane, the singer’s sister, claims that her maternal uncle, Mduduzi Masikane, who underwent heart surgery months ago, died unexpectedly.

“The operation was very successful. So we were not expecting this to happen,” she says.

According to reports, the eldest brother to their mother, Mduduzi died in his Pinetown home.

“uMalume was fine yazi. He passed on at home. We thought after the heart operation he would be okay.”

Speaking on how Babes Wodumo was handling the entire loss, Nondumiso confirmed that she was not doing well.

“What have we done? uMa is not okay at all. They were very close, and she is not taking the news well.

“Our dad is trying to be supportive, but losing a sibling is not easy, no matter what age they were. It’s almost like a dark cloud is hanging over our family,” Nondumiso says.

Recall that some event promoters recently complained about Babes Wodumo not showing up at shows where she was fully booked and paid.

The singer’s sister cleared the air … explaining that she lost her uncle and would need some time to mourn him.

“People think that Babes is not pitching for events because she is problematic, but everything has just become too much, and she needs time out.

“We closed the year off badly and we are starting out badly We hope things will change.

“We ask that people be patient and give her time. We are all mourning. She will be taking bookings again next week,” Nondumiso adds.
