Cassper Nyovest, the renowned South African rapper, recently took the stage at the ANC manifesto to perform one of his biggest hits.
However, his performance left fans and netizens puzzled, as it seemed like something was amiss. The usually upbeat and energetic Mufasa appeared disinterested and lacked his usual stage presence.

Speculations started swirling on social media, with netizens jokingly suggesting that Cassper Nyovest felt guilty for performing for the ANC.
Some even went as far as suggesting that he was forced or blackmailed into performing at the event. However, it turns out that there might be a simpler explanation for his lacklustre show.
A video posted on Twitter by user MDN News showed the rapper giving a half-hearted performance, without his trademark jumps and dance moves.
It seems that Mufasa was under the weather, as he later revealed in an interview. Despite being a born-again Christian, Cassper Nyovest delivered his high-energy hit song, “Tito Mboweni,” with less enthusiasm than usual.

This incident also sparked a debate about the rapper’s involvement in political matters. While he rarely engages in politics, Cassper Nyovest did speak up about South Africa’s leadership crisis after President Cyril Ramaphosa’s reelection at the ANC elective conference in 2022.
