Popular actress Baby Cele, known for her role as Gabisile in Uzalo, has reportedly left the SABC1 soapie to join the cast of Umkhokha: The Curse. According to isiZulu publication Isolezwe, there are rumours that Baby Cele might replace fan-favourite actress Deli Malinga as Mamzobe in the faith-based telenovela.

A source close to the situation revealed to the publication that Baby Cele made the decision to leave Uzalo and join Umkhokha. The source also mentioned that Deli Malinga was not happy with the treatment she received and decided to resign from the show a few days ago.

Rumours of Deli Malinga’s departure from Umkhokha: The Curse started circulating a few days ago when isiZulu publication iLanga News reported that the actress might be leaving the show. However, in a recent interview with Sunday World, Deli Malinga hinted at other roles in the pipeline, although she couldn’t provide any details.

While fans of Uzalo expressed their disappointment at the news of Baby Cele’s departure, some were sceptical about her replacing Deli Malinga. Twitter user @mjbnkosi commented, “She’s a good actress but not to replace Deli.” Another user, @JabzinSA, mentioned the ongoing issues with producer Duma Ndluvo.
