Energy Ministry To Engage Public On Soaring Electricity Prices

The Energy and Electricity Ministry has acknowledged growing consumer dissatisfaction over the ever-increasing electricity prices and announced plans to engage with the public directly in the coming weeks.

During a media briefing held on Monday, Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa of the Energy and Electricity Ministry provided an update on the implementation of the Energy Action Plan.

In his address, Minister Ramokgopa recognized the numerous challenges that South Africans face regarding energy provision. He highlighted that one of the pressing issues for the department is to alleviate the impact of load reduction measures implemented by local municipalities.

“One of the priorities for the 6th/7th administration is fighting poverty and also the escalating cost of living,” said Minister Ramokgopa. This underscores the ministry’s recognition of the burdens shouldered by everyday South Africans due to rising electricity prices.
