Eleven Suspects Arrested And One Fatally Wounded In Spiking Incident

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has made significant progress in addressing the recent surge of attacks on the R80, N1, and N4 roads.
Following a tip-off, members of the Tshwane District received information about a group of suspects involved in criminal activities along these national and provincial routes.
Acting swiftly, the police team located and apprehended ten males in Winterveldt, north of Pretoria. However, one suspect resisted arrest and attempted to flee while brandishing a firearm.
In order to protect themselves and their colleagues, the officers were forced to fire a single shot, resulting in the suspect’s death.
The deceased suspect was a known criminal and allegedly involved in multiple crimes, including four robbery cases in PTA North with a firearm and rape.
Additionally, he is believed to be the mastermind behind the spiking incidents along the R80, N1, and N4 roads. The police have also discovered that the suspects used an illegal shabeen as a meeting place, which was operated by a female suspect who has been arrested.
During the operation, the police seized a black replica firearm and various other items of interest. Further investigations are underway to determine the involvement of the remaining three suspects in the spiking attacks on the R80.
