DJ Warras Murder: Gunman Sentenced To 25 Years After Admitting He Killed Warrick Stock For R25,000

The man who admitted killing broadcaster and DJ Warrick "DJ Warras" Stock in exchange for R25,000 has been sentenced to 25 years behind bars. The sentence was handed down by the Johannesburg High Court on Friday following a plea and sentence agreement with the State.

Mozambican national Joaquim Armando Pacula, 25, pleaded guilty to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and contravening the Immigration Act. His conviction brings an end to the criminal proceedings against him, while the case against his co-accused continues.

### DJ Warras Murder Gunman Admits Killing Was For R25,000

During court proceedings, Pacula admitted that he was the gunman who fatally shot Stock in exchange for R25,000. Warrick Stock, widely known as DJ Warras, was killed outside the Zambesi Building in the Johannesburg CBD on 16 December 2025 after an oversight visit to a hijacked building.

Authorities have described the killing as a targeted assassination. Pacula was arrested in January 2026 and later entered into a plea and sentence agreement with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

### DJ Warras Murder Conviction Results In Multiple Prison Sentences

In addition to the 25-year prison sentence for murder, the court imposed further sentences for the remaining offences. Pacula received eight years for the unlawful possession of a firearm, six months for the unlawful possession of ammunition and 12 months for contravening the Immigration Act.

The National Prosecuting Authority said the plea agreement was reached after consultation with the Stock family.

"This sentence reaffirms the NPA's commitment to ensuring that perpetrators of violent and contract killings are held accountable and that justice is served for the victims and their families," NPA spokesperson Magaboke Mohlatlole said.

### DJ Warras Murder Case Against Alleged Mastermind Continues

Pacula's co-accused, 44-year-old Victor Majola, remains before the court. Prosecutors allege that Majola was the mastermind behind the murder, while Pacula carried out the shooting.

Majola is facing a charge of premeditated murder. His case has been postponed to 17 August 2026 for the conclusion of the pre-trial conference.
