Did Lerato Kganyago Just Snub Chidinma Adetshina At Miss SA 2024?

Ouch! It seems like Lerato Kganyago might’ve just publicly snubbed Chidinma Adetshina. On Saturday, Lerato was spotted at the Miss South Africa 2024 pageant, where she was a judge.

As SurgeZirc SA readers know, Lerato had earlier faced online trolling for supporting the 23-year-old model, Chidinma, who is now a former Miss SA contestant.

Lerato returned to social media to tender an apology to those offended by her support. Interestingly, Chidinma announced on Thursday that she was pulling out of the Miss SA contest.

This was after it was discovered that her mother, of Mozambican descent, might have committed identity fraud in 2001 to get South African citizenship—the same year Chidinma was born. With her father being Nigerian, this raised questions about her eligibility to compete in the pageant.

Now, it looks like Lerato might’ve been one of her biggest critics! During the pageant show, a lady believed to be Chidinma —who many swear was Chidimma— approached the judges’ panel to greet Lerato.

However, Lerato gave what appeared to be a cold shoulder in return. Some think Lerato snubbed Chidinma to avoid any more online drama.

“Chidinma Adetshina, she needs to know when to read the room,” one Twitter user reacted to the video. Another commented, “Lerato already apologised. She doesn’t want problems.”

It seems that Lerato’s snub was a strategic move to avoid any further backlash or drama. But in this world of social media, nothing goes unnoticed. What do you think of Lerato’s action? Was it justified or too harsh?
