DA Declares Early Victory In Cape Town As Geordin Hill-Lewis Predicts 58% Win
The DA has declared an early victory in Cape Town, with Geordin Hill-Lewis predicting 58% support as vote counting continues.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has declared an early victory in the City of Cape Town, positioning itself to extend its two-decade-long control of the metro.
Speaking during a victory parade outside the Western Province Results Operation Centre, the party’s incoming mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis, predicted that the DA would secure approximately 58% of the vote in the city.
His prediction came while less than 30% of the votes had been officially tallied for the metro, meaning the final outcome had yet to be confirmed.
Hill-Lewis thanks supporters for backing the DA
Hill-Lewis thanked DA supporters for their backing, singling out voters in the townships for their contribution to what he described as the party’s strongest performance yet.
He said the party had received significant support across the city, with the results pointing to a strong showing for the DA.

The early declaration signals the DA’s confidence that it will retain control of Cape Town, where it has governed for more than 20 years.
However, with the official vote count still underway, the party’s predicted 58% support should not be treated as a final result.
The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) will confirm the outcome once the counting and results process has been completed.
