McDonald’s South Africa has recently made a statement, distancing itself from the actions of McDonald’s Israel.
This comes after McDonald’s Israel announced that it would be providing free meals to soldiers in the country amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The announcement caused controversy and led to calls for McDonald’s South Africa to disassociate itself from the Israeli franchise.
Earlier this week, Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), gave McDonald’s South Africa an ultimatum to sever ties with McDonald’s Israel by the end of the month. In response, McDonald’s South Africa issued a statement clarifying its position.
