Bheki Nxumalo has been named Eskom’s new Head of Generation. Calib Cassim, the acting CEO of Eskom, stated that the position has been open for some time and that the state-owned business has been looking for someone to fill it.
“It has been very difficult to find a suitable candidate that would hit the ground running. The generation recovery plan is in full swing.

“We needed someone that would passionately drive the execution of recovery plan while inspiring staff to reach beyond their reach,” Eskom CEO, Calib Cassim said.
Nxumalo has worked in the oil business for almost 20 years, rising through the ranks from junior to senior management and executive positions.
According to Eskom, the new Head of Generation is an all-around business leader who is at ease with the role’s governance, people, and technical components.
When asked if he has what it takes to lead generation at the struggling power company, Nxumalo said he is convinced he can turn things around.
“I am truly honoured to be asked to lead [the] Eskom generation at this critical time. I literally grew up in Eskom. I strongly believe that Eskom has the technical and managerial capability to turn things around.
“The majority of Eskom employees are passionate about their work and company,” Bheki Nxumalo said about his new position as Head of Generation at Eskom.
Nxumalo was previously the Chief Executive Officer of Eskom Enterprise and Eskom Rotek Industries. According to Eskom, the new Head of Generation has substantial operational, power plant management, and production experience.

Bheki Nxumalo was also the General Manager of Kusile Power Station and the Power Station Manager at two Eskom power facilities.
Nxumalo’s appointment comes as Eskom continues to implement Stage 6 load shedding indefinitely.
