The ex-girlfriends of Fidelis Moema, a former KPMG bursary specialist, have become state witnesses against him.
Moema stands accused of orchestrating 431 fraudulent transactions, amounting to a staggering R16.5 million. These transactions took place between October 2019 and 2022 and involved various companies associated with his friends and girlfriends.
Moema, alongside his co-accused, Trevor Machimana and Lebogang Sigubudu, appeared at the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court to apply for bail.
State prosecutor Valencia Dube revealed that Moema allegedly coerced his ex-girlfriends into establishing companies in their names. He would then divert KPMG bursary funds to these companies and transfer the majority of the money to his own bank account.
According to Dube, all the ex-girlfriends involved have come forward, provided statements to the police, and are now serving as state witnesses.
The prosecution claims to possess compelling evidence, including Section 236 bank statements that clearly illustrate the money trail from KPMG to Moema’s personal account.
