AKA’s Killers Reportedly Paid R800k For Hit

The alleged killers of South African rapper AKA have reportedly been apprehended in Eswatini, just over a year since his tragic murder.

Police Minister Bheki Cele and National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola confirmed this new information during an urgent briefing held in Durban on Tuesday evening.

According to Minister Cele, a total of six individuals have been arrested in connection with the murders of AKA and Tibz. The group consisted of a coordinator, two shooters, two spotters, and the organiser of firearms and vehicles.

It is believed that the spotter had been tracking AKA’s movements from the airport on the day of the incident.

Law enforcement authorities revealed that multiple vehicles were used in the hit on AKA, with four of them, along with a firearm and cartridges, being recovered.

Interestingly, the last two vehicles were hired. Some of the suspects were found hiding out in a house in Eswatini, with the oldest suspect being 36 years old.

KZN police commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi clarified that the initial reports of the arrests were disputed by the police to avoid tipping off the remaining suspects who were still on the run. At the time of the briefing, one suspect was still at large.

Despite the initial conflicting reports, Eswatini Times, a local publication, stood firm in its claim that suspects related to the AKA case had indeed been apprehended. The publication even went as far as stating that the suspects were paid R800,000 to carry out the hit, although the police have not confirmed this detail.

As the suspects prepare to appear in court on Thursday, the arrest of AKA’s alleged killers brings a glimmer of hope for justice in this high-profile case. The details surrounding the motive and those involved are sure to unfold as the legal proceedings progress.
