It’s been a wild week on X (formerly known as Twitter), and once again, Anele Mdoda found herself in the boiling pot of online drama.
The 947 radio host is no stranger to controversy, but the latest spat went below the belt, touching on her status as a single parent. Then came Prince Kaybee, the house DJ with a penchant for calling out the haters. He took to X to lament the nasty attacks directed at Mdoda.

The drama kicked off when an X user, @_leratomabuzam, posed a seemingly innocuous question: “Why do people with no kids think they are special?” Mdoda, never one to shy away, retorted, “Why does it bother you that they think they are special?”
Things quickly escalated when @_leratomabuzam fired back a scathing comment: “Sit this one down, ndoda. I will post why your son doesn’t have a dad, and then you can comment. This one is for my special people.” And just like that, the floodgates of social media abuse opened.
Kaybee posted a screenshot of the exchange and commented, “It hurts to see people being this impolite to others with personal attacks.” He was referring to the harsh rebuttal Mdoda received from @_leratomabuzam, and the growing string of disparaging comments from randoms piling on.

Social media swiftly took sides. @footballstage_1 weighed in, “They are being bullies. People with low self-esteem target celebrities. It’s wrong.” Meanwhile, @antonio43493 had a different take, “Insults are called freedom of speech. Lol, X sometimes can be tough.” In typical South African fashion, @thembijessicac added, “I’m a sensitive person but this was just sick.”
Mdoda’s situation highlights the often brutal nature of social media interactions, especially when it crosses personal lines.
