On Thursday, three suspects were arrested during a police operation aimed at rescuing a kidnapped man in the Eastern Cape. Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa reported that the Chinese victim was initially abducted in Qonce (King William’s Town) on Saturday.
A ransom of R350,000 was demanded and subsequently paid by the victim’s brother. Unfortunately, in a shocking turn of events, the victim’s brother was also kidnapped and has not yet been found or released.

Colonel Mawisa disclosed that members attached to East London Detectives and the K9 unit, along with private security officers, gathered and acted on crucial information that led them to a house owned by a taxi operator in Palana Location, Mooiplaas, outside East London.
Here, they found the primary victim unharmed and seized a shotgun, 11 boxes of varied ammunition, a safe, and suspected stolen property.
Provincial Police Commissioner Lt-Gen Nomthetheleli Mene applauded the team for their prompt action in locating the suspects within a week of the kidnapping.

“As we continue to mitigate cases of kidnapping, swift arrests of perpetrators is sending a message that the police are determined to harshly deal with this scourge,” said Mene.
The police are continuing their investigation to locate the victim’s brother and bring all involved parties to justice. The successful rescue operation highlights the effectiveness and dedication of the police force in handling such critical situations.
