Last week, Prince Kaybee found himself at the centre of a social media storm. The Gugulethu hitmaker took to his Twitter (or should we say X?) page to rally behind Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina, a Miss SA finalist.
Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding her participation, Prince Kaybee was unwavering in his support. But as the saying goes, ‘the more you stir the pot, the more it stinks.’
Everything seemed smooth until a video emerged showing Chidimma celebrating with a group of Nigerian men after making it to the top 11.
This didn’t sit well with many South Africans, who felt she shouldn’t have been in the contest due to her Nigerian roots. The video was a game-changer for Prince Kaybee. He took to X to express his change of heart, posting, “ey bafe2 ngiyaxolisa mina.☹️” which translates to “my brothers I’m sorry.”

Netizens were quick to react, and let’s just say, they didn’t hold back. Many weren’t surprised by Prince Kaybee’s initial stance. They claimed they always knew he didn’t favour South Africa much.
However, his apology sparked a new wave of conversations. Some accepted his change of heart, while others remained sceptical. Talk about a social media rollercoaster!
So, who is Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina? Born in Soweto to a Mozambican mother and a Nigerian father, she holds a South African birth certificate and identity document. Despite her background, many South Africans felt conflicted about her participation in Miss SA. As the debate rages on, one thing is clear: this year’s Miss SA pageant is anything but ordinary.
As social media continues to buzz, it seems like Prince Kaybee and Chidimma Adetshina will be topics of discussion for some time.
