24-Year-Old Son Arrested For Allegedly Stabbing Father To Death

A harrowing incident has occurred in Kamhlushwa, a small town outside Malelane in Mpumalanga, where a 24-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged murder of his elderly father.

The tragic event unfolded following an argument between the two, which had seemingly been resolved earlier in the day.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson, Captain Magonseni Nkosi, the argument between the father and son appeared to be amicably settled.

However, later in the evening, when the 62-year-old father returned from church, his son called him inside the house. It was during this time that the suspect allegedly took a knife and stabbed his father multiple times.

The victim attempted to flee the attack but tragically tripped and fell a few steps away from the house.

Witnesses who saw the bleeding father quickly raised an alarm, and community members managed to apprehend the suspect and notify the police. Emergency services arrived at the scene, only to certify the father as deceased.

The suspect also sustained stab wounds, allegedly self-inflicted, and was taken into custody. He is expected to appear in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he will face charges of murder.
