Kwaito idol and musician Zola 7 was the happiest man on the planet when he was chosen as one of the three recipients to receive this year’s lifetime achievement award at the SAMA’s. But unfortunately, his happiness was cut short at the eleventh hour.
The kwaito idol never received his award when they were handed out two weeks ago and worse part is a week before the awards took place, he was informed that he would no longer be honoured. Ouch!!
Sad thing is the only people who received that Lifetime Achievement Award was Dan Tshanda and Bishop Benjamin Dube.
Not receiving the award left the musician really devasted and was even more disappointed that the award was taken away from him at the eleventh hourly. So not fair!!
According to a source that’s very close to the musician stated that Zola was really excited when he received confirmation that he would be receiving the award but got heartbroken when he was told he would no longer receive the honour.
Recording Industry of SA (RiSA) CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi told the publication that they received a number of nominations for the Lifetime Achievement Award which were considered by the board.
“After a lengthy deliberation, the number was reduced to three and later to two. The decision of the board on the Lifetime Achievement Award is final.”
The musician’s manager released a statement to say that Zola understands the process and accepts the decision of the board.
