Zizi Kodwa Returns To Court Over Graft Allegations Trial

Former Sports, Arts, and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa is set to return to court on Tuesday morning regarding a graft case against him.

Zizi Kodwa is accused of receiving bribes exceeding R1.6 million from his co-accused, former EOH director Jehan Mackay. These alleged transactions took place nearly a decade ago. Both individuals are currently out on R30,000 bail each.

Kodwa and Mackay first appeared in the Specialized Commercial Crimes Court in Palm Ridge in June.

The charges stem from a probe initiated by the State Capture Commission of Inquiry. Shortly after being granted bail, Kodwa resigned from his ministerial position but later returned as a member of parliament in the seventh administration.

Both Kodwa and Mackay have denied that their financial transactions were connected to multimillion-dollar contracts for upgrading government software.

They maintain that the exchanges were loans and monetary transactions between friends, not bribes. The upcoming court appearance will further delve into these allegations, providing more clarity on the nature of the transactions.
