Young KwaNyuswa Pharmacist Killed In Deadly Pharmacy Shooting Near Hillcrest

A young pharmacist who reportedly opened a pharmacy to improve healthcare access in KwaNyuswa has been killed in a deadly shooting that also claimed the lives of a cashier and a security guard.

Nomzila Madinane was among three people killed during the attack at a pharmacy in Inchanga near Hillcrest on 19 May 2026.

According to reports, Madinane had recently opened the pharmacy after identifying a need for easier access to medication in the community. Residents in the area were reportedly forced to travel long distances to obtain healthcare services before the pharmacy opened.

Community members have described Madinane as a dedicated young entrepreneur who was passionate about serving people in the area.

The shocking attack has left residents devastated and searching for answers.

Three Murder Cases Opened After Inchanga Shooting

Robert Netshiunda confirmed that police have opened three murder cases following the incident.

“Inchanga police opened three cases of murder following an incident in which two females and a security guard were shot by unknown people,” Netshiunda said.

“The two victims were fatally shot while the security guard sustained a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.”

Reports indicate that three armed suspects stormed the pharmacy before opening fire on the victims.

Police Investigate Motive Behind Hillcrest Pharmacy Shooting

The cashier and Madinane were reportedly killed at the scene during the shooting. The security guard was allegedly shot while trying to intervene during the attack.

Earlier reports suggested the guard had been fighting for his life in hospital before police later confirmed his death.

Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the shooting, including whether the attack may have been linked to robbery or another motive.

No arrests have been confirmed at this stage.
