You Can Now Play Xbox Games On Hisense TVs Without A Console

Microsoft has expanded the reach of its Xbox app to supported Hisense televisions, allowing eligible users to stream Xbox games directly on their TVs without needing to own an Xbox console.

The rollout also includes other televisions powered by the VIDAA operating system, with Microsoft confirming that compatible models released between 2024 and 2026 have been receiving the app over the past month.

The move forms part of the company's wider strategy to make Xbox gaming available on devices consumers already own. Microsoft said it is continuing to bring Xbox to more screens, particularly for people "who may not be able to afford or justify buying dedicated gaming hardware."

Xbox App Arrives On Supported Hisense And VIDAA OS TVs

The latest expansion builds on Microsoft's efforts over the past four years to broaden Xbox Cloud Gaming beyond consoles. During that period, the company introduced the Xbox app for Samsung smart TVs, LG smart TVs and Amazon Fire TV devices.

Owners of compatible Hisense and VIDAA OS televisions can access cloud gaming directly through the Xbox app, removing the need to purchase dedicated gaming hardware.

Game Pass Subscription Required For Xbox Cloud Gaming

To play games through the Xbox app, users must have an active Game Pass subscription. All subscription tiers are supported except the PC-only plan.

Game Pass Essential costs $10 per month, Premium is priced at $15 per month, while the Ultimate tier is available for $23 per month. The Ultimate subscription provides access to more than 500 games and includes select new releases from their launch day.

Since Game Pass relies on cloud streaming, players will also need a stable internet connection. An official Xbox controller or a compatible Bluetooth controller is required to play supported titles.

Microsoft has also been testing the ability for users to stream games they already own at no additional cost, although that feature is currently limited to Xbox Insiders participating in testing.

How To Access The Xbox App On VIDAA OS TVs

VIDAA OS was developed by Hisense for its own televisions, but the platform is also used on selected Toshiba models and certain European television brands.

If the Xbox app has not yet appeared on a compatible television, Microsoft says the rollout is still ongoing. Users are also advised to install the latest TV software update before checking the Games section on the Home screen to see whether the application has been added.
