Wynberg Police Urgently Seek Family Of Man Killed By Train At Wynberg Station

Wynberg police have launched an urgent appeal to trace the family of a man who died after jumping in front of an oncoming train at Wynberg railway station on Saturday, 29 November.

According to provincial police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk, the incident occurred at around 10:30am when the unidentified man leapt onto the tracks. “He was struck by the train and sustained critical injuries,” he said.

Emergency medical services responded and transported the man to a nearby hospital. “However, he died on the way to the hospital,” Captain Van Wyk confirmed.

Police Appeal for Assistance in Identifying Victim

Wynberg detectives are appealing to the public for help in locating the man’s relatives. He is believed to be in his early forties. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a grey top, red T-shirt, black jeans, and white running shoes.

Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) spokesperson Zinobulali Mihi confirmed that the agency is aware of the incident and that it remains under investigation.

She noted: “No foul play is suspected based on preliminary information received by our security personnel at the station.”

Ms Mihi added that PRASA extends its condolences to the family and all those affected.
